Robert Hess is a 2023 RHP/1B, 3B with a 5-10 145 lb. frame from Temecula, CA. Medium frame with square shoulders, young build with room to fill throughout and develop physically moving forward. Ran an 8.86 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, simple delivery on the mound, leg lift up past belt with a hip turn at top, arm comes through the back well, stays compact and tight with arm working to an extended three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 71 mph, mostly true in life but shows occasional lift down in the zone, repeats mechanics and shows a feel for filling the zone. Curveball shows depth and can change the shape of it, occasional slider finish up to 59 mph. Taller actions around the first base bag, athletic actions coming off with long strides, accurate to the intended base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a closed stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing, can implement additional weight shift moving into contact, keeps hands inside the ball throughout swing. Works to the middle and opposite parts of the field, projects with additional extension out front, linear path through the zone. Very good student.
