Zach Essig is a 2026 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 182 lb. frame from Commerce Township, MI who attends Orchard Lake St. Marys Prep. Medium frame with some strength and room to keep adding it. Ran a 7.55 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher with good arm speed as he moved downhill. He commanded the fastball well, establishing the zone on both sides. His fastball was up to 81 mph and paired well with a curveball that had 1-7 shape to it. He induced weak contact and pitched very efficiently. Also worked out as an outfielder who was fluid and direct to work through the ball. He made on-target throws throughout his round. He also worked out at first base, he fielded the ball deep and was able to produce on-target and accurate throws. A left-handed hitter starts with an open stance and hands set high, with a high-set back elbow as well. Used the strength in his frame, and was able to produce some barrels.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
