Zahir Vargas is a 2022 1B/3B with a 5-9 195 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Lamar. Medium frame with a stocky, filled out build showing strength. Ran a 8.31 second sixty yard dash. Primary firstbaseman, showed good hands receiving the baseball out front, young mechanics with footwork being a work in progress. Secondary thirdbaseman, rounded the baseball well moving weight into throws, range plays proved to be difficult, arm strength developing with age. Righthanded hitter, tall, narrow stance with a medium height leg lift, gets wide before dropping barrel to baseball with an opposite field approach, drifts into weight transfer, opposite field pop. Outstanding student.
