Jackson Short is a 2023 SS/RHP, 3B, MIF with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from San Francisco, CA who attends St. Ignatius College Prep. Medium frame, current strength, and some thickness in the frame. Worked an efficient outing on the hill throwing two innings in twenty pitches. Worked with a quick pace as the hands start high working down to the waist and up with a high front knee while keeping a tall posture. Sinks into the hips in a delivery that showed tempo and rhythm and utilized the lower half. The front leg firmed up well and allowed the mid-3/4 release to repeat consistently. Fastball was consistently spotted to the glove side. The slider blended between an 11/4 to 11/5 shape with a tight break and later action using both sides of the plate. Change-up was a useable third pitch. In the infield, the glove and feet played fluidly and made plays staying in the middle of his body and showing strong lateral range. Quick-release and arm strength were present. Upside available playing well at second and third. Offensively worked with high hands and a high back elbow creating stretch and then turning the backside through to allow barrel to work well in the zone. Lifted liners across the field.
