Braxton Wetzler is a 2021 1B/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 240 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Mountain Brook. Extra large frame with broad shoulders. Ran an 8.30 second 60 yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the baseball in a clean position, sits back on the ball some with some developing footwork into release, long arm action into throws topping out at 75 mph, similar actions in the infield with slightly better arm strength up to 77 mph. Secondary righthanded pitcher, works quickly on the mound with sound mechanics, takes his arm back to a compact arm stroke up to a high 3/4 arm slot, creates good extension out in front, two pitch combination, fastball topped out at 77 mph with armside run, mixed in an 11-to-5 curveball with good feel, nice overall command of both pitches. Righthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with an exaggerated open stance and weight sitting on his backside, pull side hitter with some strength at impact, long swing plane with some usage of his hips and lower half overall, will get onto front side at times, flashed some pop. Good student.
