Juan Diego Amescua is a 2025 SS/RHP, 3B with a 6-1 193 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Central Catholic. Primary shortstop with bigger frame to build on. Showed high level actions on the defensive side of the ball with clean glove work and an ability to create an angle allowing his footwork to carry him into his throws with a quicker transfer getting the ball out on time with accuracy and arm strength that will continue to improve as he matures. Worked to the glove side mostly on the mound from a square start on the mound with a leg lift to the belt and short arm action. The fastball topped out at 80 mph with occasional cutting actions as he stays online with the lower half. Compliments the fastball with a curveball in the mid 70’s showing consistent hands speed with intent creating short slurvy breaking actions. Right-handed hitter, stood out both in batting practice and in game with a consistent feel for the barrel. Is on time with a low leg lift getting to a strong base and allowing the barrel to play out front where he creates impact with strength in the hands working his best from gap to gap with more juice to tap into as he matures.
