2022 Spring Midwest Workout Showcase (April 22)
Spencer Wood is a 2025 OF/LHP/1B with a 5-11 169 lb. frame from Cedar Rapids, IA who attends Prairie. Recorded a 7.32 second sixty yard dash time. Medium frame and lean build with plenty of physical development still to come. Primary outfielder with a passive approach and choppy footwork. Fields it off the front foot with multiple steps into release and utilizes a long and offline arm action. Everything is fundamentally sound, gets into position well, will continue to improve as he grows and gets stronger. Also worked out at first base, fields out front with two hands and utilizes a quick transfer. Clean round overall and showed good feel for the position. Right-handed hitter with an even base and a high hand and back elbow set. Utilizes a small leg lift trigger, has some quickness to the hands and looks to pull the ball. Limited separation in the swing, can get rotational at times, has a long swing path and showed the ability to elevate. Proved to have a heavy barrel when on time. Excellent student.
