Mason Kelley is a 2022 3B/RHP, MIF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Bonney Lake, WA who attends Sumner High School. Large, square shouldered build with long limbs and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.04 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front, takes short steps moving towards the ball with quickness to footwork, quick exchange out of glove and shows ability to drop arm slot to complete play. Short and quick steps in the outfield, fields the ball deep with extra step through release, full arm stroke through the back with accuracy to the intended base. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery with a high leg lift up past belt, slight hip turn at top; full arm stroke working through the back to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 77 mph with short running life and creates extension out front, can continue to drive of backside down the mound. Nice components on the mound, 11-5 shape to curveball and lands for strikes; flashed a changeup at 71 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and even stance in the box with a medium hand set, strides wider with lower half moving into contact. Utilizes a leg lift trigger, creates some whip with the barrel through the zone and remains shorter to the ball. Keeps hands inside the ball and has quickness to them, shows comfort working to the pull side, gets to front side early at times with shift. Very good student.
