Luke Erickson is a 2008 LHP with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Richmond, VA who attends St. Christopher's School. He has a lean build with wide, coat hanger shoulders and long arms and his very projectable both physically and in his actions. Erickson throws from a tall, low effort upright delivery with a long, loose arm action and high 3/4's release point. His arm is quick and it looks like there is plenty more velocity in there. Erickson's fastball was 85-88 mph, touched 89 with good downward plane and good life at the plate, both cutting and running at different times. Erickson's breaking ball is a 76 mph slider that is sharp and crisp at times. He's still working on a change up. Erickson's present stuff is solid but he's one of the more projectable southpaws we've seen in the 2008 class given his looseness and arm speed. We wouldn't be surprised to hear about him taking a quick leap up in his velocity sometime over the next year. Keep a close eye on him. Erickson is also a good student.
