Coleman is a 6-3 junior first baseman from Pennsylvania with broad shoulders and good strength in his lower half. He hits out of a balanced hand set with high hands that he keeps close to his body during his swing. Coleman has some bat speed but doesn’t always attack the ball, choosing instead a line drive contact approach and cutting himself off out front. With his size he could be driving the ball. Coleman has good speed for a first baseman and handled himself well defensively at first base and could probably play the outfield as well. Coleman also pitched a couple of innings out of the bullpen. He was 75-79 mph with his fastball with some running action and threw a 60-63 mph curveball. Like his swing, better extension and finish out front would help his overall stuff. Coleman is a good student.
