Gavin Strump is a 2024 C/RHP, IF, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Saint Johns, FL who attends Creekside. Recorded a 7.48 second sixty yard dash time. Medium frame and slender build with plenty of room to fill moving forward. Primary catcher with a side saddle set up, has long steps and gains good ground with his footwork. High effort thrower, tends to throw uphill, will improve as the operation becomes more compact and consistent. Also worked out from the outfield and the infield. Infield may be his best position, as he showed quick feet and he moved well laterally. Had smooth transitions with a quick release, really showed off his athleticism here and could make plays on the move. Clean round overall with some things to like moving forward. Secondary right-handed pitcher with a full windup, hands start low and stay low. Throws a fastball with slight run and can change eye levels well, key to getting outs will be commanding the fastball to each quadrant of the zone. Flashed a curveball with some horizontal plane to it, filled up the zone and pitched to contact during his outing. Right-handed hitter with a spread base and in line stance, coils into the back hip well. Solid swing mechanics overall, has an uphill swing path and tends to lean and lift. Gets extended well and has length to the path, utilizes an aggressive approach at the plate. Was on time consistently and found the barrel more often than not, will improve impact potential as he gets stronger. Excellent student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
