Manuel Salas is a 2023 1B/3B with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Haltom City, TX who attends Richland High School. Recorded a 7.48 second sixty yard dash time. Large build, thick and physical frame with present strength, is sneaky athletic and moves quite well/efficiently for his size. Primary first baseman with good feel for the glove, can pick it and shows proper footwork. Secondary third baseman, slings it from a side arm slot, shows smooth actions and plays very well on the move. Flashed his athleticism on the charge, has soft hands and some quickness to his actions. Probably fits best at first base long term given the frame, but is certainly manageable at third base. Also pitched, moved well on the mound and utilized a shorter arm action. Simple mechanics overall, lives around the zone and is a strike thrower. Tends to slow his arm down on the curveball. Had a loud showing with the bat. Left-handed hitter with a narrow and open stance and a low hand and back elbow set. Has obvious strength in the swing, utilizes big barrel tilt and creates separation and leverage with ease. Hands and hips fire well, has present bat speed and gets the barrel on plane early. Has huge power potential and showed it in the games, hitting a monster homerun to his pull side and taking one off the wall in the opposite field gap. Intriguing offensive projection. Great student. Named to the 2021 Lone Star Showcase Top Prospect List.
