Diego Ortega is a 2020 C/UT with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Whittier, CA who attends El Rancho. Developing build with addition room to fill out, uses a low wide base behind the plate. Works from a lower set and pops out of his squat athletically. Has a longer transfer but shows ability to replace feet well. Posted a 2.26 second pop time to second base. At the plate, uses an even stance with a middle to pull approach. Showcases an ability to get the bat out in front on the inner half. Has a linear weight shift in the box. Line drive plane looks to pull the ball to the left field. Keeps things simple in his load, stronger exit velocities will develop the more he's able to stay closed with his front shoulder. Great student with a 3.8 GPA.
