Graham Spencer is a 2009 IF/C with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Decatur AL, who attends Decatur HS. He has a thick, strong build, especially for his age. Spencer ran the 60 in 7.34 and threw 72 mph during infield drills. He has good position on ground balls and shows soft hands. His release and throwing motion still need some work to maximize his arm strength. Spencer has third base tools right now and also has done some catching, which could be an interesting position for him at some point. Offensively, Spencer's strength gives him some bat speed and that ball comes off his bat well. He hits from a crouched stance with low hands and has some upper cut to his swing. He likes to pull the ball when he gets a chance. Spencer's lower half balance needs work and keeps him from making consistent hard contact on many types of pitches at present. He has the hitting tools to keep improving with adjustments. Spencer also took a turn on the mound to pick up an inning for his team and threw up to 78 mph with a decent curveball. Spencer is also a good student. He was also named to the showcase Top Prospect Team.
