Jack Armstrong is a 2008 RHP/1B with a 6'7'', 200 lb. frame from Jupiter, FL who attends Jupiter HS. He has a long, loose and athletic build with tons of projection. Armstrong has a very loose and long arm action and throws with little effort. He has very good downward plane to his pitches from a high 3/4's release point. Armstrong hasn't gained any velocity in the last year and threw 87-89 mph in Cincinnati, touching 90 mph a couple of times, but it's obvious that there is plenty more in his arm. Armstrong tended to pull off and down early on his pitches and this left him casting his curveball frequently, leaving it with a big rolling break. When he stayed over it it showed good downer break. He also mixed in a few 78 mph change ups. Armstrong is highly athletic and shows plus power as a first baseman and runs the 60 in 6.91. During the summer WWBA events he stood out more as a first baseman than as a pitcher, actually. Armstrong is also a star basketball player and comes from a very athletic family. His father Jack was a former 1st round pick and ML pitcher and his mother's brother played quarterback in the NFL. Armstrong is an outstanding student. Selected to 2007 Aflac All-American team.
