Ryan Venezia is a 2021 LHP/1B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from North Haledon, NJ who attends Delbarton. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.45 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, side step moving into delivery, gets tall on backside with a leg lift up to belt, lands slightly closed with strike foot and works across his body; long arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 75 mph, showed nice command of it within the zone when working on top, mostly true in life and repeats mechanics well. Mixed in both a slider and curveball, maintained release on changeup at 59 mph. Works through the ball well at first base, fields it out front and funnels into a shorter arm action, hands play at the ball with a quick transfer, smooth and balanced actions and repeats. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; weight begins on backside and shifts through, occasionally gets to front side early. Does a nice job of staying short and compact through the zone, keeps hands inside well and shows a handle for the barrel. Gets rotational at times from weight shift, able to work to all parts of the field when on time and shows comfort going the opposite way. Excellent student.
