Chris Johnson -- Johnson is a strong looking, physically mature junior right handed pitcher from Georgia. Johnson listed himself as a primary pitcher, we liked him more as a hitter based on what we saw in Ft. Myers. On the mound, Johnson flies open way early on his pitches, leaving his arm way behind his body and losing all the strength that that body gives him. He sat at 76-77 mph for 4 innings of work and did a good job of throwing strikes. Johnson’s curveball was 67-68 mph and a bit flat with his mechanics and arm stroke. As a hitter, Johnson has a very good load and set up for his swing and generates good bat speed with some outstanding power potential. He crushed a couple of balls during games as well as in batting practice and we really like his approach to the ball. Keep an eye on this young man when he’s hitting. He's a top level hitting prospect and a top student..
