Matthew Connolly is a 2023 C/RH/1B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Mount Ulla, NC who attends West Rowan. Recorded a 7.66 second sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher sits behind the plate with an even base and reaches for the ball while moving into a long transfer. He shows some arm strength and good footwork as he throws to second base at 73 mph with a pop time of 2.13. Also taking groundballs at first base with quick actions and good athleticism throwing 77 mph across the diamond using solid glove actions. Right-handed hitter steps to the plate with a low handset showing a simple leg stride and primarily uses his upper half as he showcases good barrel control while working the field middle to opposite approach with developing backspin on the ball. Excellent student.
