John Sayres Jr is a 2023 OF/RHP/1B with a 6-4 170 lb. frame from Cortez, FL who attends IMG Academy. Slender young build with lots of time and room to get stronger. 7.47 runner in the sixty, worked out at both outfield and first base during the showcase, has athletic actions in the outfield and makes low, on line throws with good flow through the ball, same type of fluidness in his actions at first base, liked the overall defensive athleticism at both positions for his size and age. Right handed hitter, has a big stride into contact, will pull off his front side early at times, line drive swing plane, some hand quickness to build on as he gains some strength. Also pitched, simple side step/leg lift delivery, some back side dip, long and whippy arm action through a 3/4's arm slot. Gets nice arm side sink and run on a fastball that topped out at 80 mph. Showed good feel for a short slider and threw it for strikes. Interesting young athlete with size that will continue to improve as he gets stronger. Good student.
