Caden McDonald is a 2023 RHP/1B with a 6-3 195 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Sickles. Big and strong athletic build with room to get stronger. Two-way prospect. Primary right handed pitcher, has a high leg raise delivery with a short on line arm action, drives down the mound hard with good extension out front, plenty of lower half athleticism. Fastball sat in the upper 80's, mostly straight and located well to both sides of the plate. Slider was his swing and miss pitch this outing, tunneled very well with his fastball, has sharpness and bite and hitters didn't recognize it, also let up on the slider for more of a curveball shape at times, spotted his breaking balls with maturity. Right handed hitter, has a simple swing with a rock back load and small stride into contact, very fast hands that are adjustable, can launch the ball with carry, gap to gap approach. 6.94 runner in the sixty. Showed athletic actions at first base and definitely has the athleticism and tools for other positions. Elite level student. Named to the Sunshine East Showcase Top Prospect List.
