John Youens is a 2023 OF/LHP with a 6-1 160 lb. frame from Waco, TX who attends Bosqueville. The 2-way prospect has a very projectable frame that has big projection with physical maturity. The primary outfielder is very athletic and took good routes with consistent footwork through his approach. His transfer is smooth and he has a very good arm for his age. Fluidity to his game. He worked out at first base as well and showed good ability on the dirt with sure hands and a strong and accurate arm to the bases. The left handed hitter leverage using a strong and powerful lower half. He has good bat to ball skills and his swing plane projects future power. The lefty also pitched showing matching upside. He has a quick shoulder and a 3/4 release that he repeats well. A lot of quality strikes. His fastball showed some life and got arm side run. The curveball has good shape and will only get better as he learns to keep his arm speed up. Significant upside in all parts of the game.
