David Ruiz is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from Hamilton, NJ who attends Hamilton East-Steinert. Recorded a 5.20 second sixty-yard dash time. Smaller, compact frame with some athleticism present and room to add strength. Primary right-handed pitcher that worked from an abbreviated windup with slightly coiled leg lift into balance and good separation down the slope. Creates some deception with cross-fire landing, fastball worked in the mid-70s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 77 mph from an overt-the-top arm slot. Displays good downhill plane to his fastball, occasionally cutting it to his glove side and mixed in a promising 12-6 shaped curveball that has some gradual depth to it. Will continue to improve with minor refinements mechanically and additional velocity. Secondary outfielder with anticipatory footwork into the fielding process, maintains good posture into the funnel and gathers cleanly off his front foot. Carries momentum into release effectively and recorded arm strength up to 75 mph during drills. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with a high hand set and hanging leg lift trigger. Middle-of-the field approach with some whip to his barrel and the ability to create some leverage out in front. Displayed quickness to his hands and fairly good feel for the barrel. Will continue to improve with further usage of his lower half which will expand his power potential. Developing, young prospect with plenty of projection remaining. Excellent Student.
