Schumata Brown is a 2023 SS with a 5-6 142 lb. frame from Maysville, NC who attends Jones High School. Young, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran an 8.14 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with a wide base, gets low behind the ball, young actions at the ball, shows athleticism ranging up the middle with long strides, can drop slot to finish the plate and shows accuracy overall on throws with arm strength that will continue to develop. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a lower hand set and carries them low through swing, utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Limited shift through lower half moving into contact, stays short to the ball with hands while working on a linear swing plane. Shows a present feel and handle for the barrel, lived in the middle of the field while executing contact oriented approach.
