Connor Mendell is a 2024 C/MIF with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Saint Peters, MO who attends Ft. Zumwalt South. Taller and athletic build with room to keep adding strength. Ran a 6.88 60-yard dash. Primary catcher with a side set-up using quicker feet to work through the motions. Has a shorter arm action and throws over-the-top, getting some carry on his throws to second base. Gains some ground with a pretty efficient exchange that produced a 2.01 pop time, throwing 75 mph down to second. A right-handed hitter who uses a wide base with even feet and a rock back load to get the weight onto his back foot. Keeps the feet ultra quiet and uses a direct hand path to get to the baseball. Controls the barrel to get it to the baseball and produce line-drive contact. Rotates through the swing with some speed to get some juice behind the swings. Worked to all fields during his round of BP. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher with a small side-step that works into a knee above the chest delivery. Hands move up as the leg lift happens, getting above the head for a longer arm action. Arm action is quick, working from a clean over-the-top arm slot. His fastball was 80-82 mph with some cut to it, getting some ride through the upper half of the zone. Mixed in a 12-6 breaking curveball as his secondary offering. Very good student.
