Colby Collins is a 2008 OF/1B/P with a 6'0'', 177 lb. frame from Macon GA, who attends Stratford Academy. Collins has a medium sized frame with a slender build. Collins pitches from a 3/4 slot with a medium length arm action. He uese drop and drive style mechanics and pitches with average effort. Collins has a slight head jerk to get his arm through and gets hard armside run on his fastball. He throws an 11/5 curveball with sweeping action on it. Collins occasionally drops his elbow in his release which causes an inconsistent release point at times. At the plate, Collins starts with a slightly open stance and uses a deep load to start his swing. He swings on a level path and makes consistent line drive contact. Defensively, Collins has solid outfield actions and moves to the ball well. He has some arm strength and makes consistent accurate throws. Collins is a good student.
