Luke Childress is a 2024 3B/RHP/MIF with a 5-10 175 lb. frame from Tazewell, VA who attends Tazewell. Medium, athletic build with obvious lower half strength. 7.27 runner in the 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, waits back on grounder with good glovework out front, step by step actions, has a good arm with carry across the diamond. Athletic player that has the tools to stick at third base. Right-handed hitter with square base and a high hand set, uses a knee lift trigger to get into rhythm, barrel gets on plane early. Showed some pull-side strength when he got the barrel extended in the middle of the round. Secondary right-handed pitcher, has a confident look about him on the mound and fills up the zone. Works from the first base side of the rubber with a short leg lift to balance, full arm swing in the back to a higher release. Has a quick pace on the mound and attacks hitters in all counts. Two pitch mix of a straight fastball up to 83 mph (2048 RPM). Slider was good when he got extended, up to 73 mph (2134 RPM). Great Student.
