Tate Nelson is a 2026 SS/RHP with a 6-0 140 lb. frame from Wilmington, NC who attends New Hanover. Slender young build with plenty of room to get stronger. 7.53 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has bounce and is light on his feet, advanced footwork for his age and projects lots of range, has some flair with his glove and lots of confidence fielding the ball, plenty of arm strength for the position, stood out defensively. Right handed hitter, sets up in an even and balanced stance, has a quiet load with a short stride into contact, has fast and active hands that get the barrel to the ball on time, consistent hard line drive contact, projects well as a hitter as he continues to fill out and get stronger. Also pitched, has a simple turn and throw delivery with a high leg tuck over the rubber, good direction down the mound, 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 82 mph, mostly straight at higher velocities, worked down in the zone well with his fastball. Maintains his arm speed very well on his curveball and creates tight spin and some bite, also mixed in a firm change up. Very good all around athlete who is going to keep getting better. Excellent student. Named to the Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
