Gilberto Valdez Romero is a 2020 C/UT with a 5-11 176 lb. frame from Ensenada, BN who attends Montverde Academy. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present strength to frame and additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.94 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, started turned in drills, receives the ball out front, gains short ground with lower half, shows quickness to arm with a tight transfer and release, will continue to refine overall actions moving forward. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Upper body dominant swing, stays short to the ball and keeps hands inside throughout. Gets around the ball at times, shows extension out front, best when on a linear plane. Good student.
