Asa Smith is a 2022 C/RHP with a 6-4 168 lb. frame from Clermont, GA who attends Chestatee. Recorded 7.53 seconds in the sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher sets low and to the side behind the plate as he reaches for the ball to gain some ground to second base with a deliberate transfer while accurately throwing the ball at 73 mph with a pop time of 2.13. Secondary right-handed pitcher moves from a full wind up with a short sidestep into a coiling belt high leg lift as he falls to the plate with a short stride. Smith has good direction and releases the ball out of a mid-three-quarter arm slot as he attacks the zone with a fastball that has good downhill action topping 76 mph. He also mixes in a breaking ball showing 11/5 action with some depth and is feeling for the release point. Right-handed hitter steps to the plate with an open stance, a high back elbow, and some back side load with a toe tap trigger as he swings using a lofted swing with developing barrel control and backspin on the ball. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
