2006 National Showcase
Jace Hamilton is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from from Carthage HS, residing in Carthage, TX. Hamilton is quite well built. He has a strong, well-proportioned, physical and athletic build on an impressive 6'3" 215 lb. frame. He certainly passes the eye test. Hamilton also has an interesting set of abilities and was ranked #99 among PG National Top 100 position players. He takes a very aggressive swing and flashed some very nice power potential with the wood bat. Hamilton is both physically strong and has good bat speed so his power potential is good. His swing at times was inside (a little inside out too) and he maintained good body control during the swing. He is the type of hitter that can actually be beat on the inner half by a stiff fastball and still flare it into right field because he is both strong and inside the ball. As his timing mechanism gets more consistent, Hamilton has a chance to put up pretty impressive offensive numbers. In the outfield he showed a set of tools that project well to either corner outfield spot. His range is not great but he did run 7.14, with a 4.77 home/first time that is more reflective of the size and inside out nature of his swing, which gets him out of the box a bit late. Hamilton is likely a D1 college bound player but is not far from really putting it together offensively. He should get at least a few peeks the spring from area scouts that have to be intrigued by his body, strength, and bat speed.
