Wilton Bumgardner is a 2023 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Macon, GA who attends Tattnall Square Academy. A 7.25 second runner in the sixty-yard dash. Long, lean frame with more room to fill out. Primary catcher, gains ground toward target with accurate throws to the second base side of the bag, recorded a 2.12 pop time and a velocity of 78mph. Had tendency of body getting ahead of arm, improvement in footwork and simplifying throwing mechanics would make big difference. Secondary pitcher, coming from a low 3/4 arm slot with short arm action. Uses an exaggerated side rocker into a big leg kick while coiling his torso, uses long legs to really stride down the mound. Fastball worked in the range of 75-80 miles per hour while topping out at 80, a lot of movement on his FB, ability to locate it on both sides of the plate. Showed some feel for breaking ball that had various shapes, at times getting on the side of it having it back up on batters, when he threw the breaking ball well, it's frisbee-like from that arm slot. His arm angle is a very uncomfortable at-bat for right-handed hitters. Has a flat bat path, gets the barrel out on pitches, went gap-to-gap consistently during BP. At times could get caught heavy on his front side, some changes mechanically to swing incorporating the lower half more would make a more complete hitter. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
