Matthew Delvaux is a 2023 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Pittsburgh, PA who attends Mt Lebanon. Primary shortstop with a tall and slender frame that has plenty of room to fill out and add strength. Fields with two hands and has developing pace to the defensive actions. Controlled and deliberate footwork throughout the fielding process, showcasing the ability to make throws from multiple slots up to 75 miles per hour. Right-handed hitter with a narrow base, upright posture and some leverage through the zone. Looks to lift the ball and projects for more power as the frame matures. Secondary right-handed pitcher that starts from the windup with a small side step into a belt high leg lift. Has a swinging gate action in the lower half, landing open-toed but online to the plate. Repeats the delivery well and generates some arm-side run from an over the top slot, and is comfortable locating the fastball at 72-74 miles per hour on the outer half. Shows developing feel to spin a mid-60s curveball, has 12-6 shape and some depth through the zone when on time. Good student.
