2021 Mid-Atlantic Prospect Showcase
Christian Cavagnaro is a 2023 C/OF with a 5-11 168 lb. frame from Wyckoff, NJ who attends Ramapo. Medium, square shouldered frame with some present physical strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.50 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, side saddle start behind the plate in drills, receives the ball out front, gains ground coming out of crouch with a quick two steps, direct transfer into an over-the-top release, arm strength will continue to develop on throws. Fluid strides moving towards the ball in the infield, fields the ball out front and utilizes a crow hop moving into release, longer arm action on throws, shows accuracy. Left-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a flat hand set at start; crouches down at start of swing. Utilizes a short stride moving into contact, generates loft through zone, occasionally gets mistimed but generates line drive contact when squared and showed comfort working to his pull side. Very good student.
