Walter Bishop is a 2009 LHP/1B/OF with a 5'9'', 175 lb. frame from Westbury, New York, who attends Kellenberg Memorial High School. Bishop is a young player (2009) with good present strength in his body. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the back side. He challenges hitters and goes after them with a bulldog type mentality. His fastball topped out at 76 mph, and he shows solid control of all his pitches. Bishop also mixed in a 1/7 curveball at 58 mph, and a 61 mph change-up. He has good feel for his change, especially for a younger pitcher. Defensively he has soft hands at first base, and shows his clean arm on throws across the diamond. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who uses a leg lift trigger. Bishop is an aggressive hitter who likes the ball on the inner half. The pull hitter has bat speed through the hitting zone and gets leverage at the point of contact that will help produce projectable power. He is a good student as well.
