Sam Merli is a 2023 SS/2B, OF with a 5-5 130 lb. frame from Mint Hill, NC who attends Independence. Developing build that stands to drastically improve as he continues to progress. Primary infielder, rounds the ball well, deep funnel after fielding. Active footwork, shows some range to his forehand side. Stays on top of his throws across the diamond. Arm strength will develop nicely alongside his build. At the plate, uses an even and upright stance with simple stride trigger. Linear path, stays connected in his swing. Shows some quick twitch actions with good bat speed for his build. Middle of the field approach, good student in the classroom as well.
