Matthew Birdsong is a 2023 RHP/3B/OF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Madison, MS who attends Madison Central. Medium build with good lower half size and strength. Full long off line arm action in back, long stride out towards the plate, pulls down his front side hard to pull his arm through, some drift out front with his hips that can impact his arm timing. Fastball topped out 82 mph, mostly worked glove side due to his mechanics, worked down in the zone and generated lots of ground ball contact with his fastball. Breaking ball shifted between a curve and a slider, best breaking balls were sliders at the high end of his velocity scale. Also developing a change up. Good student.
