Andrew Torres is a 2024 C/OF with a 5-6 133 lb. frame from Pomona, CA. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary catcher with a taller, slightly side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains some ground while working out of crouch with quicker footwork. Clean glove circle at exchange and released form a compact three-quarters arm slot. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 72 mph, best workout pop time of 2.09. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Funnels of to side and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot created solid carry to the bag at 75 mph. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and simple front side trigger. Flashed good hip quickness to contact with rotational lower half actions. Compact hand path to baseball with a naturally lifted barrel plane through extension. Showed present bat speed with good strength when squared. Looked to aggressively turn the barrel to contact and create loud contact to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Good student. Named to the 2019 14U Fall West Showcase, Top Prospect List.
