2022 13U/14U Spring Southwest Showcase
Devin Dekavallas is a 2027 3B/RHP, SS with a 5-7 135 lb. frame from Gilbert, AZ who attends Williams Field. In the outfield, he showed an aggressive approach and ability to maintain momentum through the catch point. Possesses a quick release with above average arm speed. In the infield, he worked well to the backhand, with ability to carry balls to the bags. On the mound, he works out of a hybrid wind up with slight drop and drive mechanics and quick tempo into the lift. It is a simple operation down the mound with short arm action and 3/4 slot. He repeats the delivery well with a fastball that sat between 64 and 67 mph with slight arm side run. Although, he is still refining his command. Additionally, he flashed a curveball ranging between 60-63 mph with slurving action that occasionally creates sharp bite. He’s confident in the offering and will throw it early and often. The breaking ball got hitters out in front with his solid feel to spin for his age. At the plate, he bats out of an open stance, low hand set up. He uses a toe tap as a timing mechanism with a slight upper cut path. He creates good extension out in front and will drive balls as he adds strength.
