Ellie Sanders is a 5’2, class of 2027, IF/OF from Conesville, IA who will attend Columbus Community HS. She shows developing quick twitch ability, certain speed, and an outstanding understanding of her ability and the game, especially for a player so early in her career and her development as a player. She has playable speed at the moment that will unquestionably excel as she physically matures and gains experience at a more competitive level. Her 2.09 20 yard/60 foot dash times are noteworthy and are at the plus-average level for her age group. Her 5.35 shuttle time is advanced for a 2027 grad. In the OF, Ellie’s developing skill level is evident and she has a sound approach that includes plus first step quickness that allows her to position consistently well. She fields IF-like with two hands, out front, and transitions quickly to a playable arm that shows consistent carry and accuracy. Her OF game has a lot of upside promise. On the dirt, Ellie has the look of a second baseman and has the skill set to play well for a long time at that position. Her first step quickness is very apparent. She moves exceptionally well to her glove side. She has playable arm strength and can throw the ball from any angle. Her throws are consistently on target. She projects, most likely, to CF or 2B and has the ability to play either, quite well. At the plate, Ellie shows a mature ability and a hybrid approach. A LHH, she handles the bat really well and has a clue about the strike zone. She can bunt like a veteran which will only elevate her game. She has a sound slap game and can move the ball well on the run. Her traditional approach sees her use the middle of the field and a flatter bat path to strike line drives with surprising authority. Ellie has promise as a multi-positional defender and a top of the order hitter. Her obvious joy in playing is infectious and should lead to a long and successful career on the diamond.(cjm)
