2023 Sunshine Atlantic Coast Showcase
Carter Thomasson is a 2026 C/RHP/MIF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Halifax, VA who attends Halifax County. Well built frame with good muscular development, present strength and a lot of time for further growth. Ran the 60 yard dash in. 7.49 seconds. Primary position C, starting slightly offset and a bit high in his legs. Clean midline transfer to short arm action with solid strength and good carry. Velocities up to 73 mph from behind the dish with a pop time best of an impressive 1.90 seconds. Will refine footwork and overall consistency with time but all the tools are there. Reps on the IF as well, showing less refined skills here but making plays and ripping the ball across the diamond up to 82 mph. Secondary RHP using a belt high leg lift to reach solid balance point to start. Shorter inline arm path that plays really well here into high 3/4 arm angle as he leverages the ball down hill. FB up to 82 mph with very good spin traits up to 2,300+ rpms with occasional cutting action. CB with heavy downward action in the upper-60s and another pitch with good spin traits. CH may have been his best offering on the day with exceptional deception and fading action inducing swing and miss. RHH working from a wide base and using a quiet trigger, almost working from a standstill. Simple direct path with the hands to contact, that got a touch steep at times. Good hand strength and ball gets off the bat in a hurry at extension. A lot to build on here and should handle the bat consistently well. Outstanding student who is a definite two-way follow in the immediate future.
