2007 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase
Michael Kaczmarek is a 2007 LHP/OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Tinley Park IL, who attends Andrew HS. He has a broad shouldered athletic frame with good length and some present strength. Kaczmarek threw outstanding at the event and was one of the big surprises. He throws from an aggressive cross body delivery with an extended 3/4's release point. He's deliberate and well paced at the top of his delivery but explodes hard to the plate with a high energy finish. His delivery gives him good deception for the hitters and an extreme angle to the plate. Kaczmarek's fastball was very consistently 88-90 mph and while it was straight it appeared to jump on hitters because of his delivery. His weapon was a nasty 76 mph curveball with a big, hard late break that was maximized by his cross body angle to the plate. Kaczmarek's curveball could be a big-time strike out pitch and left handed hitters have no chance against it. Kacmarek also threw a couple of nice change ups that could develop. He showed a bulldog approach to pitching and attacked hitters with strikes. Kaczmarek could move up the prospect charts quickly if he maintains this type of stuff in games this spring. Follow very closely! Kaczmarek is also a very good student and he's signed with Kentucky.
