The last comment on our scouting notes for Whittemore pretty well summarizes our thoughts on the Alabama outfielder: “Sure gets a lot of hits.” Whittemore needs to add just a little strength to be able to drive the ball out of the park with wood. He has what appear to be a few mechanical flaws in his swing, but the end result was very consistent at the PG National; lots of base hits as Whittemore centered the bat on the ball virtually every time, against some of the top pitching prospects in America. Whittemore’s other tools are pretty solid across the board, and should get better yet as he matures physically. He ran a 7.09 - 60 and showed a strong, accurate arm from the outfield. He makes everything look pretty easy on a baseball field. It’s not a stretch to think Whittemore will play in the Big Leagues some day. For sure he is a big time college prospect right now. And he projects in a big way. Clay is an excellent student.
