JJ (Jeremiah) Phillips is a 2027 C/MIF, OF with a 5-7 130 lb. frame from Pleasantville, IA who attends Pleasantville. Recorded a 7.45 second sixty yard dash time. Primary catcher with a side saddle setup, showed a flexible and athletic lower half with good quickness/twitch to his actions. Showed solid catch-and-throw skills in game, gets the ball out quick and a makes accurate throws. Moves very well behind the dish and his defensive skillset is advanced for his age. Secondary outfielder with an aggressive approach, utilizes a short and compact arm action and plays with good intent. Fields it out in front of his body, clean round overall and moves through the ball well. Right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance and a wide base, utilizes a small toe tap trigger. Has quick hands and present bat speed, syncs the swing up well, found consistent barrels to the middle of the field and the opposite field gap. Will improve power potential as he gets stronger and gets the barrel turned over consistently. Physical and athletic prospect who can really play. Bright future ahead with continued development.
