Clayton Shunick -- Shunick is a slender junior athlete from Georgia who looks more like a projectable pitcher but showed us some good position player tools. Shunick lists himself as a primary first baseman, which is strange because he’s a very good runner with enough arm strength to play just about anywhere on the field. Despite his 6-1, 155 lb frame, Shunick showed the ability to make very good contact with wood and lined 4 hits in 3 games, including a couple where he turned on inside fastballs. He’s an aggressive hitter with a line drive stroke. Shunick showed some promise on the mound also. He gets good leverage from his delivery and threw 80-81 mph with a 70 mph curveball that spun well. With a little more strength he could definitely improve his base velocity. Shunick is a very good student. Keep an eye on this athlete.
