Shanna Buford is a 5-foot-6, class of 2024, SS/RHP, 3B from Donnellson, IA who attends Central Lee HS. Shanna is a talented and athletic player who is fundamentally sound and has a skill level that should continue to grow as she moves through her last three years of HS and travel ball. In addition to her certain skill on the diamond, Shanna is a high achiever in the classroom. She ran a 6.00 40-yard dash and was timed at 3.87 from home to first. She also posted a 5'9 standing broad jump. A primary MIF, Shanna shows elite actions defensively. She is easy to position and shows soft and sure hands. Her glove work is upper level. She shows great range and transitions smoothly, showing the ability to throw from any platform. She has a well-above average arm, with an advanced mechanical operation that allows her to consistently throw at 62-mph. Her throws are firm, hold their plane, and are routinely accurate. Big upside as a defender. Shanna's athleticism truly shows through at the plate. She can handle the short game like a veteran and is an accomplished and confident bunter. She is balanced and even at the ready and shows a quick and quiet load with an even quicker trigger. She is short, compact, and direct to impactful contact. She is top hand dominant and hits a lot of line drives to all parts of the field. As she moves through her career, power could come. She is an accomplished striker of the ball. She makes loud contact with routine effort. Shanna is a noteworthy player right now. She has a couple of tools that are college ready today. With added strength and agility, as well as exposure to the highest competition level, Shanna should have the opportunity to choose her future collegiate program. Very talented and obviously passionate player. Big, bright future ahead!
