John Wells is a 2022 SS/2B, OF with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Ballston Spa, NY who attends Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Senior. Large, broad shouldered frame with present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with two hands, taller release but works on top of throws, shows glove skills working the backhand, fields it cleanly, has some range and actions would play well at third base, shows carry on throws across the diamond with accuracy. Left-handed hitter, begins with a spread and slightly open stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; quick hands and stays short to the ball at point of contact. Creates some loft and looks to lift the ball out front, occasionally gets to front side early but strength plays off of the barrel. Comfort working to pull side and shows present bat speed. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
