2007 Hawaii Showcase Tournament
Philip Quade is a 2007 RHP with a 6'3'', 200 lb. frame from Lemoore CA, who attends Kings Christian HS. He has a big, strong body that can be termed a pitcher's frame. Quade has some ability on the mound and should continue to develop in the coming years. He has a long arm action and some arm speed, coupled with a good delivery. He hides the ball well and creates some leverage in his arm stroke. Quade throws his 80-84 mph fastball with good down angle and showed good fastball control. He also spins his curveball well (70-71 mph) and got some late action on it, with 1/7 shape. There were a couple of curveballs that had some sharp action and good depth, suggesting that it can be a usable "out pitch" in the future. Quade simply showed control of three pitches, has a good pitcher's frame and an arm that works. More velocity should come and he might do well if he heads to junior college for a couple of years.
