MaKai Derry is a 2025 SS/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Clinton, TN who attends Grace Christian Academy. Tall and athletic build with good physical projection. Ran a 7.68 60-yard dash. Right-handed hitter, open front side in the stance with high hands and a high back elbow, barrel wrap in the load, swings with intent and generates good bat speed, flashed ability to impact to the pull-side and ball comes off easily. Easy to project more power as well. Primary shortstop, fundamental footwork getting to the spot and works around the ball well, clean two hand funnel out front, quick exchange and a good internal clock. Gets rid of it quickly with carry and accuracy across the diamond with good arm strength, recorded throws up to 85 mph. Also worked out in the outfield, works under control to the ball, fields with one hand on the side, solid footwork and athleticism working through the baseball, full arm swing and ball comes out of the hand nicely. Accurate throws with carry to both bags recorded up to 86 mph. Also pitched, full delivery, medium leg lift to balance, full arm circle to a high three-quarters release, commanded the ball to the glove-side consistently. Sat in the upper-70s, grabbing 80 mph (2344 RPM) with feel for a curveball with 11-5 shape in the low-70s and a changeup in the mid-70s. Tremendous student. Named to 2023 Southeast Top Prospect Games Top Prospect List.
