Ryder Young is a 2025 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-6 150 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Torrey Pines. Young, medium build with square should and room to grow and develop moving forward. Ran an 8.59 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher, deliberate tempo to delivery with a long arm action through the back working to an over-the-top release point, hands raise in unison with leg lift. Balanced throughout, fastball topped out at 72 mph, mostly straight in life and mixed a curveball with 12-6 shape and depth to it. Filled the zone and mixed a straight changeup at 63 mph, maintains well on release. Also worked out at first base, funnels into body and works into a short arm action, carry on throws will continue to develop, shows accuracy, young footwork off the bag. Switch-hitter, begins with a wide base and hands out front, short shift moving into contact, works to the opposite field, bat speed will continue to develop with added strength. Open stance from the left side, gets closed through load and shows more lift to swing path, looks to pull and shows ability to go to the middle of the field. Very good student.
