Hudson Simmons is a 2028 OF/1B with a 5-9 140 lb. frame from Charlotte, NC who attends Charlotte Christian. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waisted frame, lean build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary outfielder, short steps on the approach to the ball, charges hard and plays low, shows ability to adjust to ball, clean arm action through the backside, carry will continue to develop but shows accuracy. Clean, lower slot on throws across from first base, plays with rhythm and glove works at the ball, repeats actions. Also pitched, side step moving into a short leg lift, hands start at belt and break higher into a longer arm action working to a lower three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 80 mph, mostly true in life with some carry through zone, played well at top of zone. Big shape to the curveball at 56 mph, plenty of depth with some sweeping finish. Left-handed hitter, open stance in the box with a medium base, keeps hands inside the ball throughout swing. Contact oriented swing, stays direct to the ball and swings with intent, best contact to the left-center field gap on a line with flashes of carry. Excellent student.
